The Bee Cafes are the brainchild of retired engineer Paul Martin, founder of the Gt Bealings Climate Emergency Rapid Response Squad.
Each planter is about a cubic metre in size and packed with pollen- and nectar-bearing plants, grown by us at our Newbourne nursery, for the benefit of hungry bees waking up for their spring forage. Woodbridge Town Council has funded the installation of 10 of these urban pollinator feeding station across the town and they will be officially opened by the mayor, Eamonn O’Nolan, at 11am on Friday 1st March, on Market Hill (Shire Hall if wet).

We have plenty of plants for the pollinators too. On milder days you might well see bees out and about at this time of year so make sure they can find the pollen and nectar they need in your garden.

GARDEN CENTRE / PLANT NURSERY PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR You will be responsible for managing the production of bedding plants, hardy perennials and shrubs, and supervising the production team to maintain high standards. At Katie's Garden we grow a wide and varied range of garden plants for sale in our on-site retail plant centre and at our local outlets throughout East Suffolk. We now need a keen plantsperson to take on the role of Grower / Supervisor as the business continues to expand. This is a hands-on role offering an interesting range of duties and responsibilities, and the opportunity to work with a happy and committed team within a locally-focused business. You will be part of a team selecting plants from our extensive nursery range and preparing them for sale. You will make deliveries using our own vans and be responsible for utilising display space effectively and maintaining the quality of stock on sale. We work with community and charity shops to provide quality plants for sale on a commission basis. This is a core strand of our business with a commitment to support local charities and communities, and we are looking to offer an enhanced service in 2024. You will liaise with staff at the outlets, many of whom are volunteers, but you will not need to ‘sell’ and there is minimal paperwork. Additional time will be spent on the nursery on plant production tasks and helping in our retail plant centre. You'll be part of the friendly nursery team in a relaxed and social workplace. There will also be the opportunity to be involved in our outreach events such as the Great Garden Trail and the Suffolk Show. This is an interesting and varied role for the right person who enjoys plants and is keen to expand their knowledge. ESSENTIAL

We have limited numbers of Norway Spruce at 5 - 7ft as well as pot-grown Firs and Spruces in a variety of sizes.
Outside we have a lovely selection of evergreen shrubs including Skimmias, Rhododendrons, Camelias, Daphnes and more. Inside, Cyclamen and Christmas Hyacinths in gift tins are perfect presents for the plant lovers in your life. Our own gift vouchers are available to buy at the nursery and through our online shop if you think they would like to choose for themselves! Last delivery date is 18th December 2023. We close for the season 4pm on Wednesday 20th December.
Some have done better than others, which is reflected in the prices, and all are less than normal shop prices for pot-grown trees. Ask at the till and we will take you to see them!

It always seems to come around so soon, but the autumn bulb planting season is nearly here already! The good gardener is always planning ahead, so if you like to get organised head to our online shop - click here - to pre-order our themed collections. Bulbs will be available for collection, delivery and purchasing at the nursery from early September. Early-spring flowering bulbs such as Crocus and Rockery Iris are best planted September/October; late-spring flowerers such as Tulips and Alliums needn't go in until November or even December.
