Conifers

Evergreen and low maintenance, conifers can often be overlooked as an excellent garden plant.  Their highly varied range of habits and foliage can bring welcome texture to the border, while the shades of blues, bronze, golds and greens give year-round colour.

Many of the varieties we stock have a dwarf habit, making them an great choice for borders and rock gardens, while the spreading habit of others make them ideal for ground cover.
 
Most conifers prefer sunny sites in well drained soil, with yew the best choice for dry, chalky soil.

For shadier spots Abies (Fir), Taxus (Yew), Thuja and Tsuga (Hemlock) are likeliest to perform best.

Unless being grown for hedging, most conifers require no pruning, making them a good low-maintenance choice.
