New garden area open!

28/5/2021

The red ribbon has been cut, the 'no entry' sign is down ... our new garden is now open to visitors!

We marked the occasion with an evening garden party for all the Katie's Garden staff. The sun shone and we enjoyed delicious local food: pizzas from the Newbourne Fox, salads from Virginia Nurseries, strawberries from Newbourne Fresh, and cakes from Nourish.

The garden is a new area at the nursery to allow us to showcase some of our favourite ranges, trial new varieties, and demonstrate plant care techniques. The planting is young, so we are looking forward to seeing all the beds develop through the summer!

The garden is to the left of Shophouse, and is free to visit whenever we are open: 10am to 4pm seven days a week, including bank holidays.

Find out more about the garden area on our YouTube page:  www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XBcILLgvck

Grow your own

18/5/2021

Want to try your hand at growing your own but new to gardening or tight for space?

Take a look at our new easy to grow pots of potatoes!

Potato Adessa is an exciting new variety: high yielding with excellent levels of disease resistance and great for growing in containers.

Once you get your own-grown crops to the kitchen you can enjoy them boiled, roasted, mashed or chopped into chips!

We have plenty more vegetable and salad plants besides, including lots of varieties of tomatoes, sweet peppers, courgettes, cucumbers, runner beans, french beans, salad leaves, lettuces, cabbages, cauliflowers, brussels sprouts and lots more besides.

Herbs are a best seller right now, including dill, basil, sage, fennel, mints, oregano, parsley, thyme and more!

Suffolk Wildlife Trust fundraiser

8/5/2021

We are joining Suffolk Wildlife Trust's 'Plants and books for wildlife' fundraising event, which takes place this weekend.

We have a great selection of gardening books for sale by donation and are selling some of our favourite wildlife-friendly plants in aid of this great nature charity - find displays near the till.

In addition, copies of  Gardening for the Uncommitted by our own Catherine McMillan will be being sold with 50% of sales being donated to Suffolk Wildlife Trust.

Warm nights are here ...
