Hanging basket workshops

28/4/2023

Picture
Join us on Wednesday 10th May for our hanging basket workshops!

We are very proud of our hanging baskets, which are something of a speciality at Katie's Garden, and we would love to share our knowledge and experience with you!

No need to book; just come anytime between 11am-1pm or 2pm-4pm.

Bring your own baskets and pots, or purchase some from our own selection.

We will talk you through the different habits and benefits of the plants in our summer bedding collection, and show you how to plant up the most effective combinations, and then you can get stuck in!

All you pay is the price of the plants you use, and £3 per basket to cover compost, long-release fertiliser and rain gel.

Packed with plants for the weekend!

Following our successful Grow-Your-Own Weekend last week we have restocked our fruit bushes, herbs and other edibles so there is still lots to choose from.

Staff have also been hard at work creating colourful displays of shrubs, grasses, lavenders, climbers and more for this weekend. This is a very busy time of year for us: we do our best to keep the shop area full but if you can't find what you want do please ask as we might have it in our growing area!

Shrub clearance sale now on!

19/4/2023

Picture
Fill your beds and borders with bargains!
To make room for new potting we have priced a large number of last year's shrubs to clear.
Most are now just £2 - £5, offering savings of at least 50% and often much more!

Replace your Hebes, add butterfly-friendly fragrance with Buddleias, find something for shade, get the Mediterranean look, pick up an old favourite, try something new.

These are plants that will require some TLC: some might be a little wonky and all will appreciate going into fresh fertile compost with more room to spread their roots, but we are confident all should do well with the right care.

You can also pick up savings online with our new Crate Expectations collections! Get a crate-ful of plants for just £10.

Grow-Your-Own weekend event!

12/4/2023

Want to try grow-your-own but don’t know where to start?

Then start with us at our special event this weekend!

For three days only save 20% on our edibles - including fruit bushes and trees - and try your hand at potting up and pricking out a range of vegetables, salads and herbs for taking away.

Event runs Friday 14th April to Sunday 16th April 2023.

From 11am to 2pm this Friday, Saturday and Sunday we will be running free drop-in workshops where you can get hands-on advice from our staff and have a go at sowing seeds, pricking out and potting up young herb, salad and vegetable plants for taking away.

Peat-free compost and re-used pots and trays will be supplied, although you are welcome to bring your own containers. All you pay for is the plants!

And as all prices offer savings of at least 50% on ready-grown prices this is the affordable way to fill your garden with edibles this summer, as well as an opportunity to try new types and pick up some handy tips too.
No need to book; supervised children welcome; drop in any time between 11am to 2pm each day.

Early Bird patio & basket plants for the Easter weekend

5/4/2023

Easter is upon us and unlike most garden centres we will be open every day including Easter Sunday!

April is a Goldilocks month for the garden: not too hot and not too cold, making it a fabulous time for planting!

Longer hours of sunlight, warmer days and warmer soil, combined with rain (we hope – ideally at night!), means young plants settle in quickly and you don’t have to wait long for results.

Everything is now growing at speed on the nursery too, and our range is increasing week by week!

Shrubs, cottage garden perennials, roses, herbs and alpines are among the plants that can get planted out this month, whether you are looking for colour now or for later in the year.

If you like to get ahead, our first patio and basket plants are available now.

Grown by us, these young plants are the money-saving way to have spectacular summer displays.

They will need protection from the worst of the weather for the next few weeks - particularly any late frosts - and should ideally get grown on before going into your baskets, planters and borders.

Flourish members get 4-for-3 throughout April – if you are not a member already make sure you sign up when you visit to get this offer.

The range includes Petunias, Million Bells, Bacopas, Nemesias, Diascias, Verbenas and more.
