Easter weekend!

We are open 10am to 4pm every day of the Easter weekend, including Sunday!

Treat yourself or a loved one to some spring cheer that can cope with whatever the weather has in store this Easter!

We have a beautiful selection of plants for going straight out into the garden, into pots, planters and borders.

Highlights include spring flowering bulbs, Violas, fragrant Dianthus, Bellis (bachelors buttons), a huge choice of alpines and those Easter classics, Pasqueflowers.

We have a Hebelicious choice of evergreen Hebes, a fern-tastic selection of plants for shade, new ranges of pots and we have even stocked up on pond plants too!

It's an early Easter this year - too early to be thinking of Petunias, Begonias and other summer basket plants.
But if you really can't wait, we have a small collection of brightly coloured Gerberas, Pelargoniums and Osteospermums which you can enjoy on windowsills, in conservatories and in greenhouses until the weather is warm enough for them to go out.

There is also a dazzling display of Senettis, perfect for pots, beloved of bees and a real headturner to have!

We hope to have our Early Bird summer patio plants from mid-April - stay tuned for updates!

Outside, our range of £3.99 - £4.99 cottage garden perennials is overflowing as we have so many to choose from!

Classics including Hollyhocks, Foxgloves, Delphiniums, Lupins and Aquilegias are mingling with lots of less commonly found varieties.

Herbs are proving popular - and our fruit bush selection has been given a boost for the weekend too.

There is more grow-your-own indoors, including seed potatoes, onions sets and the first of the vegetable and salad plants, which will need protecting from frosts for the next month.

Pick and Mix perennial plugs!

Come and fill a tray with your choice of 10 perennial plugs for just £18 - starts this weekend and runs while stocks last!

'Plugs' are the halfway point between seedlings and plants that are mature enough to go into borders.
We always have huge numbers of them on site but they are usually kept strictly to the growing side of the nursery.

For a limited time only we are making these young plants available to buy, offering huge savings against the price of larger stock!

Perennials are plants that come back year after year. Most are best in flower borders, although some are suitable for pots and planters too. The selection we are offering have a range of flowering times, from spring to autumn, and almost all are bee-friendly.

Care advice: Plugs are too small for planting directly into the garden.

We strongly recommend they are planted into small pots where they can develop their root systems before moving on into the ground.

On the nursery we use 9cm or 1 litre size pots for this. Don't make the mistake of using too large a pot - plants find it harder to access the nutrients in the soil and will not grow as well. We have suitably sized pots available to take away for free from Shophouse.

Use a good quality multipurpose compost; we always mix in slow-release fertiliser too, to help the plants grow.

Keep an eye on watering – don’t let them dry out and watch they don’t get waterlogged.

Although all the perennials in the offer are frost hardy it is advisable to shelter them from hard weather conditions while they are young.

All being well your potted-on plugs should be rooted in their new pots and ready to go into the garden by late spring!

Spring Clean Your Shed!

We are launching our Spring Clean Your Shed event and we want your unwanted garden tools!

Spring clean your shed and help raise money for a good cause!

Is your shed or garage cluttered with garden tools you never use?

Maybe you now find some of them too heavy, too lightweight or too specialist for your current needs.

Maybe you’ve ended up with too many duplicates or you’ve been lucky enough to upgrade to higher quality.

Let them have a new lease of life through our Spring Clean Your Shed event!

Donate your usable unwanted tools at the nursery this month and we will sell them on in aid of Suffolk Wildlife Trust!

Suggested items for donation include:

Spades, forks, trowels, shears, secateurs, loppers, rakes, hoes, hoses, gloves, wheelbarrows, watering cans, brooms, buckets, hanging baskets and glazed and terracotta pots.

All items should be in usable condition, so please nothing broken, blunt or rusted up.

We cannot accept any electrical or motorised garden tools, nor any chemicals or fertilisers.

You can bring in your donations any time over the next month.

All items will be available to buy by cash donation from next weekend (23rd March) through to the May Bank Holiday.
