Following on from the popularity of last year's range, houseplants are back at Katie's Garden for a limited time only!

We are again making the most of a window of opportunity – between summer bedding and autumn bulb seasons – to fill Shophouse with an enticing mix of indoors greenery.

Keenly priced and themed by where they should be happiest in your home, we have dozens of different varieties to choose from.

So you can get the right plants for you we have grouped them into themes.
  • Bathroom Beauties: Can also be suitable for kitchens, these are plants that like it humid.
  • Sun-Lovers: Those best on south-facing windowsills, including cacti and succulents.
  • Heart of the Home: Plants that want to be away from direct sunlight. Good for corners and spots away from windows.
We have helpful care notes pinned up in Shophouse and also available to view below.

Long-flowering low-effort perennials!

Want plants that will flower month after month?
And year after year?
Want plants that don’t need lots of care and attention?
And perfect for pollinators too?
Our fresh batches of Salvias, Penstemons and Fuchsias tick all the boxes, and are all only £6.99 each!

Most will flower from at least early June to late autumn, and will often do much more than that.

Salvias and Penstemon prefer full sun but still perform well in part-shade too. Fuchsias actually prefer part-shade - they can struggle in too much sunshine!

All will do best in well-drained soils. This is particularly important in the wintertime, when they are otherwise at risk of rotting in damp soils.

The shrubby Salvias simply need two prunes a year, cutting them by half each time. The first is known as the Hampton Hack, as it is usually carried out in July at the same time as the flower show. Get the secateurs out once the first flowers are starting to look a little tired. The second prune is at the end of the year, once the second flowers have run out of steam. The prunes are also an opportunity to tidy up the plants, removing any wonky bits, any clutter and getting them back to a more uniform shape.

Penstemons - which have the added benefits of being evergreen and slug-proof - get similar treatment: cut by half twice a year when flowers are fading. Don't cut back Penstemon too hard in wintertime. The old growth will protect the heart of the plant from frosts and snow so wait till springtime and the frosts have passed if the plant needs a tidy-up.

Fuchsias are sometime known as 'self-cleaning' - the old flowers blow off in the wind which means you don't need to do anything! As top growth usually gets hit by winter frosts they usually want a hard prune in spring to clear the way for fresh healthy regrowth.
