The Talitha Arts Garden is appearing in the All About Plants category at this year’s Chelsea Flower Show, featuring a host of plants grown by us.
The garden has been designed by Joe and Laura Carey as a celebration of the creative arts and its power to transform lives.
It will use just two main colours to convey the delicate moment between darkness (trauma) and light (transformation).
The trauma will be represented by an area of shade, with sparse planting and dark colours leading to a much sunnier area filled with lighter coloured flowers and 250 handmade white porcelain butterflies, created by Japanese ceramicist Naoko Tagai. These will pour from a large sculpted chrysalis, made by Norfolk-based carver Teucer Wilson.
Over 80 per cent of the garden’s area will be filled plants, with hard landscaping kept to a minimum. Planting will include several mature trees, with a carpet of naturalistic and woodland-esque perennials and a number of ferns and ornamental grasses.
