Sowing wildflower seed doesn't often give the hoped-for results. For a more reliable show we think the Achilleas (yarrow) and Anthemis (chamomile/maguerite) look wonderful together.
These are perennial plants that will come back year after year (and will have an evergreen centre year-round). They are bee-friendly, grow well in poor, dry soils (but aren't too picky) and do best in sun. Anthemis are £5.99 each; Achilleas are available in £3.29 and £4.50 pot sizes in a range of colours. Really go to town and combine with plants from our cut flower range!
A superb long-flowering plant for summer and autumn. We have a number of varieties with dark leaves, green leaves, single flowers and waterlily flowers; including Bishop of Llandaff, Happy series, Maxi series and Lubega series, priced £3.99 and £4.99.
Plant in full sun and deadhead regularly for best results. Many are very bee-friendly. Get some instant impact with our stunning pre-filled hanging baskets and patio planters, priced £20-£26.
Most people know about bush roses and climbing roses, but have you ever tried carpeting roses?
We currently have a range of county roses that will mingle beautifully with your perennials and annuals. Also a good choice for slopes and banks. Clusters of flowers over a long period. All £9.99 each. Including Berkshire, Cambridgeshire, Essex, Gwent, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Kent, Norfolk, Suffolk, Sussex We don't sell bunches of cut flowers at Katie's Garden ... but we do have the plants for you to grow your own.
Our range of carefully selected annuals includes Ammi (Bishop's Flower), Cornflower, Sweet Williams, Chrysanthemums and Nigella (Love in the Mist). All £1.99 each.
We still have an excellent choice of Zonal (upright) Geraniums and semi-trailing Geraniums for £3.50 each.
For something a little different we have a couple of scented varieties: Pelargonium Fragrans Variegatum (pine and nutmeg scent) and Prince of Orange (citrus). Unlike many plants, the scent comes not from the flowers but the leaves. Gorgeous Angelonias are available in a choice of three colours (£2.99 each), and Sunpatiens (turbo-sized busy lizzies!) are £4.99 each, in choice of white or red. If you are looking for easy results for your patio pots, pick up a Trixi mix! For £4.99 get three plants in one. A striking annual for mid- to back of border. Also known as Spider Flower. Long flowering season, and should provide blooms well into autumn. Butterfly-friendly. We have it in white and two shades of pink, priced £3.99 each.
Dianthus - of the Carnation family - have a beautiful scent, silver-blue leaves that last year-round, and blooms that are great as cut flowers. We still have a good variety available, priced £3.29 each in 1 litre pots.
A relatively new variety that will turn heads! Half-hardy perennial with sumptious deep colouring that should last well into autumn. For patio pots and borders.
