We are moving into the prime time of year for adding 'structural' plants to your garden, such as trees, hedges, roses and shrubs.

These are the plants that give focal points for your garden, define different areas, and in many cases provide year-round interest.

They can make a big difference to your garden, which can make choosing them feel like a big decision.

We've got lots of information and advice on the Advice and Our Plants section of the website, with helpful tutorials on our YouTube channel too, and of course staff are also happy to advise if you visit the nursery.

The first of our mid-range hedging plants are already here. Options include Ilex crenata (box-leaved holly) and Taxus baccata (yew) for £8.99 each, Lonicera nitida Copper Glow (shrubby honeysuckle) for £10.99 and Euonymus Green Spire £7.99 or £19.99 for larger specimens.

At the top of the range, get evergreen Photinia for £69 for supersized 5ft shrubs, at the nursery now!

You can pre-order other premium hedging plants on our website, which are also suitable for using as standalone shrubs, with free delivery on orders over £40.

If you're working to a budget, pre-order bareroot hedging plants online, with bundles working out at just £1.50 a plant for many of the varieties.

There is a good mix of pot-grown ornamental and fruit trees at the nursery now, including birch, rowan, cherry blossom, crab apple and some evergreens too, for year-round colour.

Get them planted now and hopefully nature will do much of the watering-in for you over the crucial early months!
